Blake Snell’s tenure in San Francisco is over, but the Giants will continue to see him quite a bit for years to come.
According to multiple reports, Snell is signing a five-year, $182 million contract with the reigning World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Giants’ chances of competing with the Dodgers and Padres in the NL West were already slim, but the addition of Snell in Los Angeles only creates additional inequality between San Francisco and its Southern California rival. Snell will join one of the league’s most talented rotations, a unit that will likely include Shohei Ohtani, Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Tyler Glasnow.
In his only season with the Giants, Snell went 5-3 with a 3.12 ERA and 145 strikeouts in 104 innings. throwing a no-hitter against the Cincinnati Reds on August 2nd.
Snell’s tenure in San Francisco got off to a slow start, due to him signing late and suffering several injuries in the first half. In the second half, however, Snell was one of the best pitchers in baseball, with a 1.45 ERA in 12 starts and 103 strikeouts in 68 1/3 innings.
The left-hander was actually supposed to be in the starting line-up in the penultimate game of the season in San Francisco, but has opted out due to his impending free agency.
“I love it here. I think we can be very, very good. I see a lot of promise. And I like being here,” Snell said at the time. “I want to be somewhere that wants me and loves me and invests in me to be the best player I can be to help them win. I like it here. I hope you’re here. We’ll see.
