València, Nov 27 (EFE).- The artistic gifts of Roger Federer and the comedian Trevor Noah have consecrated the Switzerland Tourism brand as the winner of the ‘Best tourism film in the world’ award in 2024 in the tourism products category , the main distinction of the ‘World Tourism Film Awards’, presented this Wednesday in Valencia.
Organized by the International Committee of Tourism Film Festivals (CIFFT) and the support of the World Tourism Organization, these awards have had up to four thousand entries, although the clear winner has been Switzerland Tourism with its campaign “The Ride of a Lifetime” (‘The trip of your life’), which includes Trevor Noah and one of the best tennis players in history.
Federer, who as a tennis player already won two medals at the Olympic Games for Switzerland, has now helped Switzerland Tourism win two more awards at the big awards event for the best tourism advertising campaigns, as the clip has also won the new ‘Prize of the travel press’ with a video in which he boasts about Swiss punctuality and rigidity.
With the excuse of having taken a train that was not the right one, Federer shows the natural landscapes of Switzerland through his own story, one of the aspects for which he has been awarded by the jury of the World Tourism Film Awards, which has emphasized the power of that narrative “as a tool to promote destinations and experiences.”
But the brand has not only celebrated these two awards, it has also won the award for ‘Best tourism film in the world’ in the country promotion section, with the ‘The Perfect Shot’ campaign, which according to the organization has featured with “a great narrative that has made it the most brilliant of all those presented.”
The honorary consul of Switzerland in Valencia, Rocío Cibrán, assured upon receiving these awards that they are the reward for great work and a great honor, although she hopes, “above all, that this campaign will help to welcome many tourists in our wonderful country.”
Beyond these two awards, Azerbaijan Airlines has won the award for ‘Best tourist film in the world’ in 2024 in the service promotion category with a sequence of images that highlight the country’s tradition in the sector.
For its part, ‘To be Albertan’, a Canadian production that asks what it means to be from the Canadian region of Alberta, highlighting the diversity and beauty of its landscapes, has won the award for ‘Best Film tourism’ of regions.
Regarding the category of ‘Best tourism film’ of the year in the promotion of cities, both Wroclaw (Poland), with the video ‘Wroclaw, City of Adventure’, and the Portuguese Nazaré, with the spot ‘Bigger than Life’ , have tied for first position.
For the president of the Wrocław Tourism Organization, Alfred Wagner, “the objective has been achieved, since the great challenge was for the tourist to feel attracted and seduced”, while the Portuguese winners have stressed that it is “a great honor for a small town in Portugal to get this award”.
The director of CIFFT, Alexander Kammel, explained that this edition has shown “the exceptional creativity within the industry”, because “the winning films exemplify the transformative power of ‘storytelling’ in tourism, inspiring audiences around the world” .
In this edition, a total of 27 outstanding productions from sixteen different countries have been recognized, although Portugal has established itself as the most awarded country for the second consecutive year, with eight productions among the best in the world.
Affiliated member of the World Tourism Organization, the CIFFT is a global reference platform dedicated to promoting excellence in audiovisual content related to tourism, an area that it implements through the CIFFT Circuit, which closes the 2024 edition with these awards. EFE
