The FEB withdraws the license of a coach for tripping a rival and his club says it was due to a tic

The Spanish Basketball Federation, through its Competition Committee, has withdrawn the license of Rafa Sanz, coach of Lobe Huesca La Magiaa team that plays in the Second FEB, former LEB Plata. The coach was involved in a controversial action on November 9 when he was on the court and Zancadilla is a player from Tekner Bizkaia Zornotza in the match between both teams.

There were less than four minutes left and the score was tied at 70 when Sanz stretched his leg as Zornotza player Kyle Robert Cardaci passed by. The event went unnoticed by the referees, but Álex Mazaira, also a member of the Basque team, shared the video on social networks. The Competition Committee has intervened ex officio and a possible sanction to the coach is also being studied.

Lobe Huesca has criticized what they consider a lynching of their coach on social networks and have requested the precautionary so that Sanz can sit on the bench while, through a statement, It is stated that the kick was due to a “habitual complex motor tic”.

For this they have prepared a neurological report from the technician and they add a video they have made in which you can see 29 plays from past seasons in which he raises his leg in different match situations. Never, however, at the pace of a rival player as happened on this occasion.

Sanz, 48 years old, is a classic on the benches of the FEB competitions who will soon reach 500 games coached between the former LEB Oro and LEB Plata. He has trained in his native Córdoba, La Palma, Tenerife, Ourense, Alcázar, Plasencia, Coimbra (Portugal) and in 2023 he took the reins of Lobe Huesca.
