On the eve of the Thanksgiving celebrations, when no games are scheduled, 28 of the 30 NBA teams took to the field during the Italian night and among the results stands out the second defeat of the season, and the first at home, of the Cleveland Cavaliers, beaten by Atlanta Hawks 135-124. Making the difference on the pitch was the guests’ leader, Trae Young, who scored 20 points but also provided 22 assists, a personal record.
In San Antonio, the Spurs were defeated 119-101 by the Los Angeles Lakers, ending their winning streak at four while LeBron James’ team was coming off three consecutive defeats. Victor Wembanyama (20 points, 10 rebounds) shone but less than usual, with a bad shooting percentage, less than 50%. The other Los Angeles team, the Clippers, took advantage of James Harden’s 43 points to conquer the sixth victory in seven games, beating the Washington Wizards 121 to 96, also their 13th consecutive defeat. Another player above 40 points was Jalen Green (41) in the Houston Rockets’ success against Philadelphia (122-115) after overtime. Without Joel Embiid and Paul George, Philadelphia continues to sink, with a season record of 3 wins and 14 losses.
Ahead of Houston, third in the west, the Oklahoma City Thunder and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (35 points) maintain the leadership in the conference thanks to the success on the field of the Golden State Warriors (105-101), without Stephen Curry. The difficulties of the Minnesota Timberwolves, finalists in the Western Conference play-offs last spring, continue, as they collapsed at home in the final against the Sacramento Kings (115-104), wasting a 12-point lead one minute before the siren.
