On Saturday, November 23, Badminton Club DEO celebrated its 50th anniversary with a day full of badminton and festive activities. The day started with the Child & Parent Tournament. Afterwards, the youth members who had committed themselves to the Big Club Campaign were put in the spotlight, with €1,132.80 raised for the club’s youth activities.
Chairman Jordan Langenberg thanked all DEO supporters and honored founders Jolanda de Koning and Gerry Buursink for their many years of involvement. In the afternoon, a senior (mixed) doubles tournament was held, in which old badminton rules were used and the winners had to score exactly 50 points as a tribute to the anniversary. In the evening the party started in De Schaapskooi with a club history quiz, three DJs and an atmospheric light show. Jolanda and Gerry were once again put in the spotlight, and there was dancing and toasting to the future of DEO. The association not only looks back on a successful anniversary, but also looks ahead to the coming years. DEO welcomes new members of all levels and ages. The anniversary was made possible thanks to the support of sponsors such as Drukkerij Van de Sande, Qcumber and Fabrique Invent.
