Quarterback Caleb Williams made a desperation pass to try to reach Rome Odunze near the pay zone, without success. The match ended at that point, giving the Lions an 11e victory this season.
The Michigan team had not won a Thanksgiving Thursday game since 2016.
However, after trailing 23 to 7 after three quarters, the Bears recovered well by scoring two touchdowns thanks to Keenan Allen and DJ Moore. However, it was too little, too late.
Sam LaPorta scored the two majors for Detroit, while Jake Bates made three field goals to add nine points to his team.
Williams finished his day with 20 completions on 39 attempts, three touchdown passes and 256 yards. Jared Goff, his counterpart, amassed 221 yards through the air and two touchdown passes.
The Bears will take the lead again against the San Francisco 49ers on December 8. As for the Lions, they will host the Green Bay Packers at Ford Field next Thursday.
