The 2024 National Judo Championship, held at the Videna Sports Center 1, ended with exciting days where athletes from different categories competed to earn a place on the national team that will represent the country in the 2025 competitions.

Two days of intense competition
The event, which took place on two consecutive days, included the Junior National Championship, the Kyus Cup, the Mini Prix, and the Senior National Championship. These categories not only allowed us to observe consolidated talent, but also to identify new promises for Peruvian judo.
The president of the Peruvian Judo Sports Federation (FDPJ), María Martínez, highlighted the high level of participation and the importance of the event for the development of athletes.
«My balance is positive. We have seen new judokas and other established ones who continue to demonstrate their level. We also look at the younger talents participating in the Kyus Cup and who in the near future will be competing in the junior national championships and the Mini Prix, which is one of the most exciting events«said Martínez.
Judo Peru: a big family
During the closing ceremony, the head of the FDPJ highlighted the atmosphere of camaraderie that characterizes this sport in the country.
«Judo Peru is a family. The coaches, technicians, athletes… we spend so many hours together that we share the same feeling for judo. We became a big family«, he expressed.
Recognition of referees and senseis
In addition to the competitions, the championship included a special ceremony in which diplomas and degrees were awarded to regional referees and senseis from various clubs, recognizing their efforts and contribution to the development of judo in the country.
With events like this, Peruvian judo continues to consolidate, opening space for new generations of talents who will seek to raise the name of the sport. Peru in future international competitions.
