Qarabag-Lyon (1-4): OL are wandering and can aim for direct qualification in the round of 16 of the Europa League

A little tremor in the first half, in pouring rain in Azerbaijan, with a post then a bar saving OL. But then everything was almost crystal clear. Thanks to a double from Georges Mikautadze but also to formidable offensive efficiency, Lyon largely won this Thursday against Qarabag (4-1). The knockout stages of the Europa League are getting closer and closer.

Olympique Lyonnais is provisionally 6th in the ranking. With 10 points after five days (3 wins, 1 draw, 1 loss), Les Gones remain well placed for direct qualification to the round of 16, promised to the top eight at the end of the league phase. Opposite, Qarabag almost said goodbye following the competition. The Azerbaijanis are in 31st position (1 victory, 4 defeats). Which ultimately shows the gap between the two teams.

Established at the forefront, Mikautadze scored twice (15th, 80th), Corentin Tolisso, author of a superb strike into the top corner (63rd), and Malick Fofana also scored (68th). Qarabag reduced the score with a penalty struck by Juninho, namesake of the OL legend, and diverted into his cage by Lucas Perri (88th). But that did not spoil the Lyon evening.
