This weekend we have an appointment with sports in Soto del Real. Specifically with Pickleball, a racket sport that is gaining more and more followers.
The City Council invites us to a fun day on Sunday, December 1st on the new multi-sports courts of the green ring from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
During this day, there will be specialized monitors who will help the attendees, teach the basic rules and lend all the necessary material such as shovels.
One of the instructors is Manuel Sanz, a national and international Pickleball player and coach as well as the 2024 Madrid Champion in the senior men’s doubles category and has spoken on Onda Cero Madrid Norte (100.1fm) to explain what this sport consists of.
El Pickleball
Pickleball is a paddle sport that combines elements of tennis, paddle tennis, badminton and ping pong. It is very easy to learn, fast paced and very fun to play due to the long rallies that occur during the course of a match.
The Soto del Real City Council encourages you to attend this event since it is ideal for all ages and has multiple benefits for health and well-being.
Main rules of this sport
Its rules are simple and the game is easy to learn for users new to the sport, but it can become a fast-paced, competitive game for more experienced players. It is almost always played in doubles, although it can also be played individually, especially for those looking for a greater challenge.
The dynamics of the game and hitting technique are similar to that of tennis, however, it requires less physical and technical demand than other sports. In addition, not much experience is necessary, which makes it more suitable for all audiences, regardless of age or physical condition. Of course, the pace of the game is faster and requires a little more strategy.
