This weekend the University of the Americas Puebla will have its last sports agenda of the year which includes 5 difficult matches in volleyball and basketball as a visitor, although there are three that must be treated in a special way due to the rivalry that the Aztecs of the UDLAP carry.
Starting this Thursday, the competition for the Green Tribe will be activated on its last dates in 2024 and it will do so against a staunch rival: ITESM Puebla in its women’s volleyball version, a team that lost last Tuesday by 3 sets to 1 against the Aztecas They are on the rise, because in their previous 9 games they have won and now they want to repeat the dose to the Borregas on their court. For their part, their teammates from the men’s team also have 8 consecutive wins and this Friday – Saturday they want to continue the streak in the two-game series against Anáhuac Querétaro.
“Both teams had an uncertain start, in their case, due to the youth that prevails, there will be certain difficulties that may affect in some cases the success in the matches, but they will know how to resolve them; and in their case they have gained the consistency to be able to reverse scores, they are aware of the situation we are in and I do not think that at this moment there can be failures in the remaining games,” was the analysis of the Aztecas coach of volleyball, Alfredo Chicoy.
Likewise, the UDLAP basketball Aztecas will see action this weekend. The women’s team visits the UMAD on Friday afternoon and given the rivalry between both institutions in basketball matters, it will be a disputed match with several points, since the Ráfaga Verde averages 60 points per game, proof of this was the overwhelming victory of the Last Thursday at Ibero CDMX by 86 to 36.
For its part, the men’s squad receives Borregos Santa Fe at the Morris Moe Williams Gymnasium, a crucial match for the team led by Angélica García, since it has the possibility of climbing positions in the general table. Although she has shown good things, for coach Azteca there are still details missing to close the games better, since in her recent game she won by 60 points to 59 scoreboard that did not leave her completely convinced and this week she has focused on work necessary so that the triumphs are with a greater advantage.
After fulfilling these commitments, the UDLAP Aztecas will have time to regroup, take a break, consider things to improve and return to training for the next semester, because activities are reactivated until February 6 with the women’s soccer game among the Tribe Verde and the UAP in field 1 of the University of the Americas Puebla.
