Chicago Bears part ways with head coach

One day after the botched final phase against the Detroit Lions, the Chicago Bears parted ways with head coach Matt Eberflus. Eberflus was in charge of the NFL club for just over two years and had a record of 14 wins and 32 defeats during this time. This season in particular, the Bears often lost after questionable decisions in the final phase – like on Thursday in the 20:23 loss in a nationally broadcast game against the Detroit Lions.

The poor communication against the Lions meant that the equalizer or possible win was no longer possible because the clock was running down. And that even though the team still had a timeout left.

Eberflus’ successor as interim head coach is Thomas Brown, who was previously responsible for the offense, the Bears announced.
