The Netherlands won 4-1 against China in a practice match on Friday evening. The visitors took a 0-1 lead at the Rotterdam Castle before the Dutch ladies put their affairs in order.
China is number eighteen in the world rankings, which made it clear in advance that there would not be a similar result as the previous international match, a 15-0 win over Indonesia. In fact, China brutally took the lead over Spangen. After more than half an hour, Jin Kun opened the score, but it should be noted that it was certainly not in accordance with the balance of power on the field.
Yet China was ahead at halftime, despite all the chances and three quarters of the ball possession for the Dutch team. It took until halfway through the second half before Wieke Kaptein made it 1-1 from close range, it was her first goal in the Dutch team. After that, the Chinese resistance was quickly broken and Andries Jonker’s team took a big distance, shortly after Jonker made five substitutions.
They were golden substitutions: three of the substitutes found the net. Jill Roord made it 2-1 with a shot from the edge of the box. Ten minutes before the end, Lineth Beerensteyn decided the game on Roord’s instructions, after which Esmee Brugts scored the final score with a nice goal: 4-1.
Partly due to this wonderful goal by Esmee Brugts, the Orange Women of China win 💥
