The emblematic Santander basketball tournament will be played again after 14 years of inactivity.
Santander basketball will once again be the protagonist in the metropolitan area, thanks to the Super Bowl, one of the most emblematic tournaments that will return to action after 14 years.
This event, which had its first edition in 1998, was discontinued in 2010; However, the Santander Basketball League, together with the support of Indersantander, decided to resume it with the aim of promoting the practice of the orange ball sport.
“It is an event that had been lost, there are many more tournaments in the city, we see some shortcomings. We are going to provide all the guarantees, in addition to the seriousness and quality of the athletes,” said Ignacio Andrés Escudero Carreño, director of the 2024 Super Bowl. On this occasion, the Super Bowl will feature two categories.
The first will be the ‘open’ one, in which a total of six teams have already confirmed their participation, among them: JR Athletics, JE, Eagles, Billares Cabecera, Santander youth team and Islas de San Andrés.
The second is the ‘veterans’, a space in which people over 40 years of age will compete and in which the following are registered: Cabrito, Búcaros, Country and Framnja. Also read: Jorge Arrieta, a coach who found in basketball a bridge of integration in Colombia
“The idea is that later we will include different categories in training and women,” said Carreño.
The tournament will begin next Sunday, December 1 and will end on the 15th of the same month.

The winning team in the open category will take home $3,000,000 pesos; while the runner-up $1,500,000.
For their part, veteran champions will be able to enjoy $2,700,000 and those in second place will be able to enjoy $1,800,000.
