THE GRAN CANARIA ARENA IS DECORATIONED TO RECEIVE THE BEST JUDOCAS IN SPAIN
THE INSTALLATION OF THE ISLAND SPORTS INSTITUTE OF THE GRAN CANARIA COUNCIL WILL HOST THIS SUNDAY THE CELEBRATION OF THE SPANISH VETERANS CHAMPIONSHIP
“IT IS NO COUNCIL THAT THE ROYAL SPANISH JUDO FEDERATION HAS DESIGNATED GRAN CANARIA AS THE HOST OF BOTH CHAMPIONSHIPS”, SINCE “THEY HAVE VALUED OUR CAPACITY, OUR SOLVENCY AND THE QUALITY OF OUR SPORTS FACILITIES”, ARIDANY ROMERO HAS NOTED
Of all the participants, 19 represent the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands, and the rest represent the rest of the Spanish Autonomous Communities. The event has also had the participation of renowned figures such as the Olympian Cristina Cabaña, the recent European medalists Asumí Leiva, Marta García and María Gómez, as well as the judokas Diego Fernández and Adrián Nieto, medalists in the last International Open.
In this regard, the Sports Councilor of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria, Aridany Romero, has pointed out that with the celebration of the Spanish Judo Championships on the Island “we have achieved a new sporting milestone for the Canary Islands.”
“There have been important negotiations that we have had to carry out to be able to bring more than three hundred athletes to Gran Canaria to celebrate these sports championships, which are among the most important that take place in Spain.”
“It is no coincidence that the Royal Spanish Judo Federation has designated Gran Canaria as the venue for both championships,” since “they have valued our capacity, our solvency and the quality of our sports facilities.” Therefore, also “as a practitioner of these sports disciplines, I show my satisfaction for hosting the celebration of these championships. Satisfaction not only for the sporting spectacle, but also for how the federation is rating the Insular Sports Institute”, since “they threaten to return with new international sporting events related to judo”, Romero noted.
