Lonzo Ball puts a spanner in the works for LiAngelo’s NBA dreams.

Lonzo Ball puts a spanner in the works for LiAngelo’s NBA dreams.

LiAngelo Ball, the middle brother of NBA players Lonzo and LaMelo Ball, has yet to reach the highest level of basketball. Despite his efforts, Lonzo recently offered some tough advice during an appearance on Angel Reese’s podcast, ‘Unapologetically Angel.’ In a direct statement, Lonzo suggested that LiAngelo’s path lies overseas rather than in the NBA.

Lonzo pointed out that LiAngelo had already received an opportunity to showcase his skills in the summer league with the Charlotte Hornets, but failed to capitalize on it. He questioned why LiAngelo wouldn’t consider playing overseas, where he could potentially excel and put up impressive numbers instead of sitting on the bench in the G League.

While LiAngelo has turned down offers from overseas in hopes of securing a contract in the G League, his chances of making it to the NBA appear slim at this point. However, as they say, never say never.

While LiAngelo grapples with his future prospects, Lonzo himself has had a remarkable return to form this season. After sitting out nearly two years due to knee injuries, Lonzo made a triumphant return with the Chicago Bulls. Although he recently suffered a wrist injury, he quickly returned to action and rejoined the Bulls’ lineup during their game against the Orlando Magic.

After his return, Lonzo showcased his skills off the bench and contributed significantly in limited minutes. In his debut game of the 2024-25 season, he recorded five points, two rebounds and four assists in just over 13 minutes of play. Against the Magic, he continued to make a difference with six points, one rebound, three assists, four steals and two blocks in just over 14 minutes of play.

In his first four games back with the Bulls this season, Lonzo is averaging 5.0 points, 2.3 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.0 steals per game. He shot an impressive 41.2 percent from the field and maintained a solid 40 percent three-point shooting percentage.

It is important to note that Lonzo joined the Bulls in a sign-and-trade deal with the New Orleans Hornets prior to the 2021-22 season.

While LiAngelo faces the reality of his NBA dreams potentially fading, Lonzo continues to shine on the court for the Bulls. The Ball brothers’ paths in professional basketball take different directions, but their determination and resilience remain undeniable.
