Finally, Tyrus McGee. The American guard from Cantù is back available after a month and a half and will do so tonight at 6pm at the Vitrifrigo Arena, Vuelle Pesaro’s home field.
The break for the national teams therefore allowed the team to breathe for a moment after a month and a half of fast-paced matches and the American player to recover from the injury suffered last October 20th in Livorno, when in the third quarter he was the victim of a problem muscle damage that is not serious, but does not resolve immediately, such as a lesion of the biceps femoris.
Who sees each other again
And Cantù, with McGee, also finds himself at full strength. Which, in itself, is already news. In fact, it had only happened once this year, in the championship opener, during the away defeat in Orzinuovi.
Everyone was there last September 29th, and it was Riccardo Moraschini’s return to the field after his knee injury in the playoffs against Trieste. Then Filippo Baldi Rossi got hurt and, upon his return, McGee got hurt.
In addition to having reunited the group from a medical point of view, the stop gave Cantù a full-fledged Italian Grant Basile.
Thanks to the double presence in the national team for the European qualifiers, the player is considered to have an Italian education. And now the scenarios that are opening up are really interesting: Cantù is ready to throw itself on the market, it is no mystery that various players are being followed, in particular untrained Americans.
This would be the move to attack the championship and try to recover what is missing from the first place occupied by Rimini – the direct clash in Romagna is upon us, it will be Sunday the 15th -, even if there is obviously no shortage of competition.
Because the group of teams at the top doesn’t give up, as demonstrated by the performances of the league leaders, Cividale (victory in Cento on Friday) and Udine.
And pay attention to the returning horses: on paper Pesaro has everything to go back up, Fortitudo Bologna with Attilio Caja on the bench has made it two wins out of two.
But, most of all, now Cantù must stay focused on itself, because a very important cycle is coming: Pesaro, Urania Milan, Juvi Cremona and Rimini in the space of two weeks. Pesaro is already a very important exam.
The team, Brienza said, is the same as two months ago, when it was indicated by everyone as one of the very favorites for first place. The Italians can guarantee a surge of pride, starting with the two former players Lorenzo Bucarelli and Salvatore Parrillo. And Cantù, with a McGee in his engine, will have to somehow “realign” himself to the games and schemes used before the injury.
But it certainly can’t be a problem to readjust to the characteristics of your star, on the contrary. Pesaro, however, no longer has too much time to recover: in the Marche, it won’t be a walk in the park.
