The term “generational” is often used in professional sports when talking about a player who achieves great individual success. In the NFL, Patrick Mahomes is an example of generational talent, as he is preparing to win his third consecutive Super Bowl next February. In the NBA, it’s fair to say that Nikola Jokic is one of those generational talents.
Despite being famously drafted during a Taco Bell commercial in the 2014 NBA Draft, Jokic has far exceeded any expectations one might have had of him. Despite already being a three-time league MVP and NBA champion, this evening he managed to climb the charts in an important statistical category.
Nikola Jokić recorded his eighth triple-double of the season. It is the 138th of his career, joining Magic Johnson in third place on the all-time list.

In his 690th regular season game against the Los Angeles Clippers, Jokic tied NBA star Magic Johnson for third on the career triple-double list with 138. With the eventual 139th triple-double, Jokic precedes only Oscar Robertson (181) and current teammate Russell Westbrook (200). Jokic is one of six players in NBA history with at least 100 career triple-doubles.
