It is a scourge that affects many footballers. This Sunday, December 1, in Chassieu near Lyon, Olympique Lyonnais striker Georges Mikautadze (24) was the victim of an armed robbery at his home, according to information from Actu Lyon.
While returning home after the match brilliantly won by Les Gones against Nice (4-1) at the end of the afternoon, a match during which Mikautadze played around twenty minutes, the scorer “was surprised by the “arrival of two hooded and gloved criminals,” writes the local news site.
The two thugs, one of whom was armed, threatened the Georgian international (35 caps) before finally entering his home and emerging with nice loot, watches and luxury items for a total of “around 150,000 to 200,000 euros.” The robbers, who did not attack the OL attacker, fled and are still, this Monday morning, actively sought by the police.
Many footballers or those close to footballers are regular victims of this type of burglary, often carried out in their absence but not always. In 2023, PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, for example, was robbed, attacked and tied up at his home in the middle of the night.
