The ATP World Rankings for men’s tennis were updated on December 2, and Rei Sakamoto has moved up 270 places to 412th place.

18-year-old Sakamoto participated in the Yokohama Keio Challenger International Tennis Tournament 2024 supported by the week before last. Mita Kosan (Japan/Yokohama, Hard, ATP Challenger) made it to the top eight of the Challenger Tournament for the first time, and when they faced the Yokkaichi Challenger (Japan/Yokkaichi, Hard, ATP Challenger), in the first round, P. Henin (South Africa), defeated Naoki Nakagawa, ranked 384th in the second round, Kaitomo Uchida, ranked 366th in the quarterfinals, and Shintaro Mochizuki, ranked 248th in the semifinals, and defeated preliminary winner C.
