Teramo needs two to win
In the inaugural match of the championship return, Pallacanestro Goldengas Senigallia closes at -2 points in the second overtime against Teramo at Spicchi 2K20.
In the away match at the Acquaviva sports hall in Teramo, the red and whites from Senigallia fail to take home the match against the red and whites from Teramo.
The match starts point by point, the two teams chase each other, no one pushes too hard, alternating in micro advantages. Nice team play from Teramo under the direction of point guard and captain Nazzareno Massotti and referees who don’t allow much contact for both teams. Fabio Giampieri plays with experience, hits two very difficult shots and scores the final equalizer of the first quarter: the scoreboard says 23-23. The second quarter begins with a much more determined Goldengas, in fact coach Simone Stirpe calls a suspension of the game when he sees the Senigallians charging, at 30-32. The Senegalese Medoune Gueye, 216 centimetres, after a convincing first quarter, loses concentration and goes out after the third foul, but an excellent Federico Caroè pushes the team from Teramo. Also on the field was Diego Benzoni, ex Goldengas, and for Senigallia good playing time for Tommaso Maiolatesi and Diego Arceci, in help given the shortened rotation due to the absences of the Sablich brothers and Tommaso Druda. The point guard Marco Giacomini thanks to his excellent vision manages to give some beautiful balls to Marco Venga and Andrés Landoni, while William Clementi gives away a dozen points in a row, unstoppable, leading Goldengas to reach the long break with an advantage of +4 . We are at the final 45-41. The second period saw Goldengas reach a maximum lead of 10 points, while Clementi and Landoni reached double figures, with 17 and 10 points respectively.
The third quarter begins with intensity, alternating leads but at 63-60, after a worrying crescendo for Teramo, coach Gianmarco Petitto call time out. Diego Arceci scores the ideal basket, a triple that leads to parity but Gianluca Mazzagatti enters and makes the siren sound for the third quarter of the game at 65-63 for Teramo at Spicchi 2K20. The fourth period starts with the determination of the Teramo captain Massotti, who responds very well to the precision of Landoni who scores a triple plus an additional free throw and puts Goldengas ahead again by one point. But then Teramo takes the lead, Giacomini comes out halfway through the quarter with 5 fouls, the bench gets a technical but the team remains in the game. The last two minutes are played a lot from the foul lines, Caroè’s triple causes despair for a few seconds and scores a +5, in the meantime Gueye also comes out for fouls, Clementi for Senigallia at 40 seconds brings it back to +2 and then parity. It ends 85 to 85.
The first overtime is heart-pounding and is not enough to decide the overall winner. In the second extra time for Teramo there is an incredible Leonardo Marinelli, the true protagonist of the fraction, followed by Landoni’s exit due to 5 fouls and, despite the attempt by Venga and Clementi to regain the match, the final siren sounds on 103 -101. Record performances for Clementi (30 points), Landoni (29 points) and Caroè (30 points). Unfortunately we surrender to a defeat that stings but which will be an incentive to do even better in the future.
