Alumnime celebrates International Day of Persons with Disabilities

Il 3 December 2024, 10.00 am, on the occasion of International Day of Persons with Disabilitiesa conference on the topic will take place in the Aula Magna of the University of Messina Disability and inclusion: compared experiences.

This is a continuation of the initiatives already undertaken since 2018 by the University of Messina and the ALuMnime association, on the initiative of the Chair of Sports Law of the Department of Law, to relaunch and place the issue of disabled people’s rights at the center of the debate.

After the institutional greetings of the Magnificent Rector, Giovanna Spatari, of the Councilor for Social Policies, Alessandra Calafiore, of the President of the SSD UniMe, Francesco De Francesco, of the Vice Governor of Panathlon Area 9 Sicily, Ludovico Magaudda and of the Coordinator of AIAS Sicily, Claudio Parlagreco , the introductory report will be given by Prof. Francesco Rende President of ALuMnime and professor of private law and sports law, who will moderate the work. Following are the reports by Francesco Pira, Associate of Sociology of the University of Messina, Elena Santagati, Rector’s Delegate for Disability, Caterina Celesti, Director of ISS La Farina – Basile and Stefano Gianfaldoni, Legal Consultant CIP Toscana. Then, the following will intervene to present some inclusion projects in the carrying out of sporting activities: Carlo Giannetto, UniMe Representative of the Skill Project, Federica Palumbo, FISDIR Technical Gymnastics Instructor, Fabrizio Caratozzolo, President of Futsal Messina and Giuseppe Locandro of the Asd Polisportiva Fc Contesse. The event will close with the testimonies of some athletes who have achieved excellent results in Paralympic sport: Simona Cascio, Captain of the Italian DEAF Basket National Team, Carolina Costa, Bronze Medalist Judo Visually Impaired Tokyo 2020, Emanuele Di Marino, Lawyer and Silver Medalist London 2017 Paralympic World Championships in the 4 x 100m relay.
