On November 23, Juan Fernando Quintero was proclaimed champion of the Copa Sudamericana with Racing de Avellaneda after defeating Cruzeiro 3 to 1 in Asunción, Paraguay.
After his victory, there has been a lot of talk about his future and it was even known that the midfielder had already decided not to continue in the Academy.
Although his future is a total unknown, Quintero has generated great expectations after a message published on his social networks.
“Thank you. “No matter what happens, I will remain in the history of this great man from Argentina and the world for life,” the player wrote.
This statement has been interpreted by many as an indication of his departure from the club by 2025.
Days ago, several rumors also came to light about the negotiations in which the player would be involved with Gustavo Serpa, representative of the majority shareholder group of Millonarios.
These speculations generated all kinds of reactions from Millonarios fans who would like to see the Colombian National Team player dressed in albiazul.
In the middle of an interview with the streamer ‘Coscu’, Quintero talked about his football career and even took the opportunity to praise the captain of Millonarios.
“I, at least, love Mackalister Silva, who plays for Millonarios. He is a guy who plays very well, a 10″ shuttlecock, the player revealed.
Regarding the possibility of Mackalister Silva reaching the national team, Quintero assured that it would be a great opportunity.
“It’s been like this for many years, I just don’t know what’s happening. I enjoy watching him play and I love it,” he acknowledged.
‘JuanFer”s statement caught the attention of the ambassador fans, who asked the club’s directors to make the financial effort for Quintero.
Thanks to his talent, the footballer trained in the Envigado youth teams has won eight titles, seven of them at club level and one with the Colombian National Team.
The first title that ‘Juanfer’ won was with Atlético Nacional (Copa Colombia 2012). The second was with the Colombian National Team in 2013 when he lifted the South American U-20 trophy.
In 2014, he won his first title in an international club, winning the Portuguese Super Cup playing for Porto.
In 2017, Quintero won his first title with the ‘red band’ of River Plate. He was the captain of that team that won the Argentine Super Cup.
Already in 2018, the Colombian won the Copa Libertadores and in 2019 he won the Argentine Super Cup with River.
Finally, in 2024, he was proclaimed champion of the Copa Sudamericana with Racing de Avellaneda.
