At the end of Week 13 of the 2024 NFL season, the Broncos and the Browns played a wild game. Denver ultimately beat Cleveland 41:32.
The end of Week 13 of the 2024 NFL season was quite tough.
While the Denver Broncos can still have legitimate hopes for the playoffs after their 41:32 win over the Cleveland Browns, Jameis Winston and Co. have already suffered their ninth defeat of the season.
The Browns quarterback also played a part in this. Although he completed 34 of his 58 pass attempts for an incredible 497 yards and four touchdowns, he also had three interceptions. The first two were carried straight back into the end zone, the third a few seconds before the end finally sealed the defeat.
On the other side, Bo Nix (18/35) had 294 passing yards and a touchdown and once again harmonized with Courtland Sutton (six catches, 102 yards). But he was also picked twice and was ultimately able to thank his defense. The running game was more of a factor for Denver (106 rushing yards) than Cleveland (77 rushing yards).
Despite Jerry Jeudy’s cream day: Browns lose to Broncos
While things were relatively relaxed in the first quarter – both teams scored a touchdown each – things got wilder in the second quarter. Nix quickly recovered from his first interception and put his team ahead 14:10 before Nick Bonitto intercepted a pass from Winston and carried it 71 yards into the end zone – 21:10. Shortly afterwards, the Browns QB made the halftime score 17:21 with a four-yard touchdown pass to David Njoku.
After the break the spectacular plays continued. First, Nix served his receiver Marvin Mims (three catches, 105 yards), who ran the egg over 93 yards to the end zone. Cleveland’s answer came immediately: Jerry Jeudy (nine catches, 235 yards), who was outstanding against his former team, connected the score with a 70-yard catch-and-run after a deep pass from Winston.
Browns quarterback Jameis Winston throws away a possible win late against Denver
With just under three minutes to go, Wil Lutz put Denver ahead 34:32 with a field goal. So Cleveland still had enough time to win the game. Winston’s ball to Elijah Moore (eight catches, 111 yards) ended up in the hands of Ja’Quan McMillan, who got the second pick six of the day and increased the lead to nine points.
Another Winston interception in the redzone with 44 seconds left on the clock finally sealed the deal. Thanks to the success, Denver is now 8-5 and has next week off, while Cleveland (3-9) faces the Pittsburgh Steelers in the division duel.
