Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) provided professional wheelchair support to Zenica ‘Bosna’ Physically Disabled Basketball Club in Bosnia and Herzegovina in order to strengthen their infrastructure.
Within the scope of the project, 8 professional wheelchairs, specially made according to the needs of the club members, which prevent contact in the game and reduce the risk of falling and injury, were provided. The club, which could not develop its activities due to limited resources, took an important step towards professionalization with the infrastructure support provided by TIKA.
Fikret Brljak, President of Zenica ‘Bosnia’ Physically Disabled Basketball Club, who spoke at the delivery ceremony of the project, reminded that the club was the first club established in this branch of sports in Bosnia and Herzegovina and explained that they took an important step towards professionalization with the support of TIKA and that they were very excited about it.
Brljak also reminded that the first sports wheelchair support for the club was made by the first President of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Alija Izetbegovic, in 1996, and expressed that they are happy that the new wheelchairs that will replace the wheelchairs that wore out over time and became unusable were procured with the support of TIKA after 28 years. brought.

TİKA Sarajevo Coordinator Erdinç Işık said, “With the projects we carry out by TİKA for disabled individuals in Bosnia and Herzegovina, we contribute to the building of a society where every individual is provided with equal opportunities. “We are very happy to contribute to the activities and rehabilitation processes of our disabled brothers and elders by supporting wheelchair basketball with this project that we opened today.” He used the expressions.
Mujo Aganovic, President of the Association of Veterans with Lower Waist Disabilities of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, stated that the project is a continuation of the successful cooperation with TIKA that has been going on for many years. Expressing his gratitude to the Republic of Türkiye and its people for their support on behalf of physically disabled citizens, Aganovic emphasized the importance of strong brotherly and friendly relations between the two countries.
Following the ceremony held on the occasion of December 3, World Disability Day, a competition was held between Zenica “Bosna” Physically Disabled Basketball Club and Sanski Most “Sana” Physically Disabled Basketball Club.
