SSV Jahn Regensburg – VfB Stuttgart 0:3 (0:2)
The VfB Stuttgart is in the quarter-finals of the DFB Cup after a clear win against SSV Jahn Regensburg. Even without Alexander Nübel, Maximilian Mittelstädt or Ermedin Demirovic in his starting line-up, the Swabian Champions League starter prevailed at the bottom of the second division.
With their two goals, Enzo Millot (10th minute) and Anrie Chase (19th) quickly put VfB in the lead. Nick Woltemade (61st) rounded off the result. Stuttgart made it clear from the start that, as a first division team, they wanted to have control of the game. The Swabians’ victory was safe, also because of Regensburg’s weak defensive performance.
Arminia Bielefeld – SC Freiburg 3:1 (2:0)
Third division soccer team Arminia Bielefeld On the other hand, they are surprisingly in the last eight in the DFB Cup. In the 3-1 (2-0) win against Bundesliga club SC Freiburg, the traditional club once again eliminated a team from a higher class. The East Westphalians had previously prevailed against second division team Hannover 96 and Bundesliga club Union Berlin.
The Freiburg team started with a promising chance: Florent Muslija took a penalty (18th), but shot straight at goalkeeper Jonas Kersken and failed to follow up with his head.
In the 28th minute, Christopher Lannert gave the third division team the lead. Shortly afterwards, his teammate Julian Kania (36th) extended the lead over Freiburg. After the break, SC was able to gain some hope as striker Michael Gregoritsch scored in the 63rd minute. But shortly before the final whistle, Louis Oppie (81st) scored the third and decisive goal for Bielefeld.
Later in the evening there will be games between FC Bayern Munich and cup defenders Bayer Leverkusen as well as between Werder Bremen and second division team Darmstadt 98.
