The Houston Texans linebacker was suspended for three games by the Goodell Circuit for repeated violations of player safety regulations.

During the second quarter, Al-Shaair sneakily and violently tackled quarterback Trevor Lawrence when the latter had already started to slide and was defenseless. The latter left the match after suffering a concussion.

Officials then ejected Al-Shaair and two Jaguars players who came to their quarterback’s defense and initiated a melee following the illegal contact.

Vice President of Rules Administration Jon Runyan said in a statement that the 27-year-old’s tackle was “unacceptable” and that he would no longer tolerate his misconduct.

In the midst of the playoff race, the Texans will therefore be deprived of one of their best defensive players for the matches against the Miami Dolphins, the Kansas City Chiefs and the Baltimore Ravens.
