Judo Grand Slam, 12 Italians competing in Tokyo

Twelve Italians are leaving for Tokyo where the Japanese Grand Slam is scheduled for Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 December, followed by the training camp. “We are ready for this departure for Tokyo – said Enrico Parlati, one of the four coaches accompanying us – the first important race for us after Paris. We are very happy to start again, to start again and then be able to train in the training camp.”

The Azzurri in the race

The athletes are Valerio Accogli, Mattia Miceli (66 kg), Giovanni Esposito (73), Giacomo Gamba, Leonardo Casaglia (81), Christian Parlati (90), Gennaro Pirelli, Enrico Bergamelli (100), Michel Terranova (57), Sara Corbo, Flavia Favorini (63), Giorgia Stangherlin (70) with the technicians Enrico Parlati, Giovanni Carollo, Andrea Pastorelli and Matteo Marconcini.

“We face the race and the subsequent camp – said Carollo – in which the rest of the team will join us, as the beginning of a new journey. Some junior boys who have distinguished themselves during the year will compete for the first time at IJF level, others are starting the four-year period again with new enthusiasm, still others have changed categories and are looking for positive results in the competition. For everyone and especially for the younger ones, however, we hope the comparison in the next camp will be an important step in their growth path”.
