There is a story behind every number, and every player who has contributed to Beijing basketball deserves to be remembered. On December 14, on the first home match day of the second phase of the CBA regular season this season, the second season of the Beijing Basketball Historical and Cultural Season – Number File will be unveiled at the Capital Gymnasium.
In 1956, the Beijing Men’s Basketball Team was officially established. In 1988, the “Beijing Shougang Men’s Basketball Team” was born. In 1995, the Beijing Shougang team became the first team of the CBA League. The Beijing basketball spirit of “fight to the end and never give up” has been passed down from generation to generation of Beijing basketball players, and has gradually transcended the court and sports, becoming the source of spiritual wealth and strength for countless people.
Last season, on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the birth of the Beijing Shougang Basketball Team, the Beijing Shougang Basketball Club held the 35th Anniversary Commemorative Exhibition of the Beijing Shougang Basketball Team and the Beijing Basketball Historical and Cultural Season Series. At that time, we paid tribute to Beijing basketball seniors and all those who contributed to Beijing basketball through the historical wall of the home gallery, the exhibition of old Beijing basketball historical objects, and the midfield event tribute session. The Beijing Basketball History and Culture Season continues this season, and the theme of this event is number files.
The CBA League, which was born in 1995, is now in its 30s. As one of the only six remaining first-year teams in the league, the Beijing Shougang team has gone through ups and downs in the past thirty years, created three championships in four years, and written countless stories of hard work and progress. Over the past thirty years, more than 170 players have represented the Beijing Men’s Basketball Team in professional leagues, and they have used a total of 46 jersey numbers. These numbers are strung together into a “number file”, creating a memory monument that belongs to this city and each player.
The “Number File” exhibition is designed in the shape of a locker room, with 46 jersey numbers arranged in numerical order, using a dark red 30th anniversary jersey. Each jersey comes with a text describing the name of the player wearing that number and the season in which it occurred. All players who participated in the All-Star Game and won championships will be marked to record the number of times they won the honor.
On December 14, in the north corridor of the Capital Gymnasium, home of the Beijing Men’s Basketball Team, an offline exhibition of the Beijing Basketball Historical and Cultural Season Number Files will be unveiled. The exhibition will run throughout the second phase of the regular season. Fans are expected to pay homage to these Beijing Basketball tribute to the heroes.
