EUROLIGUE 2024/25 – Paris Basketball is the new undisputed leader of the EuroLeague! Despite a let-up in the third quarter, the capital club held on against a weak Maccabi Tel Aviv to win, 93-81. This brings the series of victories of the French vice-champion to nine in the premier competition.
It is with the status of leader, and with a crazy series of eight consecutive victories, that the Paris Basketball entered the 13th day ofEuroleague. On neutral ground in Belgrade, in front of an almost empty room, the Parisians could make the pass of nine in the event of victory on a Maccabi Tel Aviv on the verge of implosion (4V-8D).
Paris on fire at three points, Maccabi takes the tide
The first minutes, however, will prove complicated. Like TJ Shorts or Levi Randolphwhose shots go around the circle before coming out, the skill is not there despite a frenzied pace. Paris, however, is the first to set out by finding external success. Maodo Lo stands out in particular with two successive successes, before Nadir Hifi does the same, pushing back +10 Israeli blades. The bellows will fade at the end of the first quarter, allowing Maccabi a Jasiel Rivero impactful to stick again, insisting on the inside (22-18). It must be said that if the Parisians were on fire behind the arc in the first quarter (6/10), their two-point skill sent shivers down your spine (2/13).
The game is then interrupted by numerous whistles before starting again with a vengeance. Paris has not lost its address, and can also rely on the effective penetrations of TJ Shorts. Quickly undermined by three faults (including two offensive ones), the American leader must be coached prematurely. But this is not a problem since in his relay, Maodo Lo walk on water. The German is infallible at three points, and transmits his success to his partners. After 16 minutes of play, Bandja Sy brings the gap to +16 (40-24)! A significant advantage that the Parisians will maintain without trembling until the break (50-36). While the Israelis remain unsuccessfully confined to the racket, the Tricolores rely on an insolent external address (10/20).

Paris Basketball gets a scare, but provides the essentials
Maccabi must react quickly. But instead, the latter continues to string together sterile possessions against a starving defense. Offensively, the Parisians continue at their pace. They resumed with a 10-3 in less than four minutes to put their opponent out of reach once and for all (60-39)! Imperturbable, the men of Tiago Splitter hit a big hit, and then relax slightly, resulting in several messy sequences. The Israelis will then begin to believe in an incredible comeback, winning 7-0. The capital club is swaying, and has squandered more than half of its lead entering the final period (68-58).
Author of a third quarter at 0/7 behind the arc, the latter has completely lost confidence, and now finds himself under threat. Invigorated, the Israelis finally find an aggressiveness in transition, rewarded by lay-ups and free throws. Then, after 15 minutes of waiting, Tyson Ward puts an end to a terrible three-point drought, before being followed by the inevitable Maodo Lo following a sequence of three offensive rebounds (80-67).
All it takes is a final push to settle the debates. Thanks to an always excellent sense of placement, Tyson Ward hits two easy baskets on the offensive rebound, and on a serve from Shorts. The ten-point bar is crossed again, the definitive victory (93-81). Simply unplayable, Paris Basketball ensures a 9th consecutive victory in the Euroleague! A real feat, even more convincing for a novice. Thanks to this success, the capital club alone takes the lead in the ranking while waiting for the Fenerbahçe result!
