Last weekend the Spanish Veteran Judo Championship was held at the Gran Canaria Arena in Las Palmas, in which the Tudense judoka Lino Martínez participated, representing Tudense Judo and Juvalença, and who managed to reach the fight for the medals through the repechage after having lost the fight that gave way to the fight for the title of champion of Spain.
Lino managed to climb to third place on the podium, achieving a creditable bronze medal. The Tudense judoka, who was proclaimed champion last year, was «happy to reach the podium after overcoming some discomfort that made my preparation a little difficult«he points out.
With this competition the season closes and, after Three Kings, he will begin to prepare his next commitments that include the European Championship and the World Police and Firefighters Championship that will be held in Alabama, as long as the budget allows it. “since in a minority sport like Veteran Judo, aid is scarce”. He will also attend the Spanish Cups qualifying for the 2025 Spanish Championship.
Lino would like to thank all his collaborators and friends, «since without them it would be impossible to prepare and compete to take the name of Tui and Velença (Eurocidade Tui-Valença) to the highest level.
