Our U15 girls qualified for the German Youth Cup, the German team championship in this age group, at the Bavarian team championship.
So our six girls Ronja Stegmeyer, Lena Müller, Asta Hirsch, Emily Peter, Zoe Dietz and Kabrel Tchouate drove to Senftenberg in Brandenburg on Friday afternoon to face the best teams in Germany. Even though the expectations weren’t too high, we were still excited to see how we would do.
After the weigh-in on Friday evening, we went to dinner and then to the accommodation. On Saturday it started quite early. Unfortunately we didn’t get a lucky pool, so we had to choose four fighting groups from Württemberg KG JV Nürtingen / TSG Schwäbisch Gmünd, from NRW TSV Bayer 04 Leverkusen / TC Kreuzau, from Hesse JC Bushido-Vellmar / TSG Blau-Gold Gießen and from Brandenburg KSC ASAHI Spremberg / UJKC Potsdam.
Unfortunately, the first two matches went 2:3 to Leverkusen and Gießen, and we won the third and fourth team matches 3:2. We were able to choose the lightest and heaviest weight class for ourselves. As a result, we were unfortunately eliminated with third place in the pool.
With a little more luck and one or two luckier fights, a place in the top five would have been conceivable. But the result is okay, we want to attack again next year.
