The Laver Cup is a team competition in which six players from each of Team Europe, led by Y. Noah (France) and Team World, led by A. Agassi (USA), play against each other over three days. Four games will be played each day, and each win will determine the winner by earning 1 point on the first day, 2 points on the second day, and 3 points on the final day.
Now, Alcaraz has been selected as a member of Team Europe and Fritz has been selected as a member of Team World for the 8th edition of the tournament, which will be held in San Francisco from September 19th to 21st, 2025.
Alcaraz, 21, is participating in the tournament for the second time in a row. Fritz, on the other hand, will be participating for the fifth time in four consecutive years.
The two faced off in the final singles match for the team championship at this year’s tournament, with Alcaraz defeating Fritz in straight sets to lead Team Europe to victory.
Comments from Alcaraz and Fritz, who have been chosen to participate this time, are posted on the tournament’s official website.
Alcaraz: “It was great to be part of the European team at this year’s Laver Cup in Berlin. All the players I’m used to competing with will be with me, supporting me on the bench and lifting the trophy. It’s unique because we share the same goals. I loved the energy, environment and atmosphere of the Laver Cup and I can’t wait to be a part of it again in San Francisco.”
Fritz: “I’m excited to represent Team World again. The atmosphere, camaraderie, team chemistry and excitement at the Laver Cup is unlike any other tournament. The energy is sure to be great and I’m excited to be back with the home fans in San Francisco. I hope you’ll come and support us. We really want to win back the Laver Cup!”
