JAKARTA – The Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) officially opened an invitation for selection of technical coaches to visit five available sectors.
The invitation for selection is open to candidates, both from within and abroad.
Coaches currently at the PBSI Cipayung National Training Center are also welcome to participate in this open selection.
PBSI general secretary Ricky Soebrdja said recruitment was a crucial program for the new manager because it was linked to the end of the coach’s current employment contract and preparation for the year’s tournament next.
“It happens that the coaches’ contract is over at the end of December 2024. On January 7, 2025, the Malaysia Open 2025 started,” he said in a statement received.
“Therefore, we carry out an open selection involving independent management consultants. Later, the performance objectives as well as the rights and obligations of each party will be described in professional contracts,” he said.
This selection also has long-term goals due to the strategic role of coaches in planning, designing the competition roadmap and building athletes’ strategies.
PBSI achievement development chief Eng Hian said the selection was aimed at encouraging transparency and opening up the possibility of obtaining coaches who might not yet be connected to the federation.
“The challenges ahead are more serious. Competition is getting stronger. Therefore, we need a coach who got a good process from the start and a transparent contract,” he said.
Eng Hian also said it was a lack of maneuvering regarding the possibility of joining coaches from abroad. The reason is that badminton has now become a global sport.
“That doesn’t mean we lack coaching talent from within, but we need to have an open-minded approach. Who knows we get the best coach,” he said.
Open selection of the PBSI Coach Plate Engineer began on December 3, 2024 and is expected to be completed on December 17, 2024.
Candidates will go through the stages of administrative selection, interview and evaluation by independent consultants.
