Badminton Cartagena is second in the Honor Division after winning in Valencia

The visiting team started with a one point lead after San Fernando Valencia did not field any players for the women’s singles 2. Of course, things did not go well for Puertas Padilla Cartagena after the Valencian duo of Lorenzo Adell and Ashwathi Pillai will take the mixed point by beating Fran Olivares and Elena Lorenzo in a match of maximum equality. Not in vain did it take five sets to decide the match, it concluded 11-10, 9-11, 11-10, 9-11 and 11-8.

Things changed in the doubles, both won by Puertas Padilla. The men’s event was won by Fran Olivares and Harry Huang against Lorenzo Adell and Manuel Calero (7-11, 2-11 and 10-11), while the women’s event, Nerea Ivorra and Elena Lorenzo, defeated Paula Lucía La Torre and Ashwathi Pillai by 7-11, 2-11 and 10-11.

Although the Hungarian Adam Konczol added the second point to San Fernando Valencia’s scoreboard, by defeating Alejandro Alcalá 11-4, 11-7 and 11-6, the Ukrainian Polina Buhrova certified the overall victory of the match by beating Andrea Arrones (1-11, 8-11 and 7-11). These three wins, added to the point from the women’s singles 2, helped Puertas Padilla Cartagena secure victory. In the last match of the match, the British Harry Huang put the final touch on Cartagena’s first victory away from home, with his clear victory, against Manuel Calero, by 3-11, 5-11 and 1-11.

Puertas Padilla will not play again until next year and will close the first round in the duel against IES La Orden de Huelva that will be played on Sunday, January 12, starting at 11:30 a.m. at the Wssell Pavilion in Guimbarda.
