San Lorenzo Beach, in the Autonomous City of Melilla, has been the scene of the I MAPFRE National Beach Tennis Master, an event that marks the closing of the national circuit MAPFRE Beach Tennis League by Oakberry. With more than 150 medals distributed and a prize pool of 22,100 euros, the event has brought together the best players in the country in categories that ranged from Sub’14 and Sub’18 to veterans (+30, +40, +50 and + 60), in singles, doubles and mixed doubles events.

Almeria’s prominence in the record

The players from Almería have left a notable mark in this tournament, managing to stand out in multiple categories:

In the absolute category, Nico Volpe and Jorge Méndez got on the podium in doubles after reaching third place. In mixed doubles, Laura Jiménez and Jorge Méndez also won bronze, consolidating their regularity in the competition.

The role of the U18 players was especially notable. Jorge Méndez and Nicolás Volpe were proclaimed champions in men’s doubles, followed by Samuel Hernández and Gabriel Torres as finalists and Liberto Amate and Pedro Alonso in third place. In women’s doubles, Daniela Rodríguez and Laura Jiménez fell just short of the title, achieving runner-up status, while Lola Abadía and Martina Llobet completed the podium in third place.

In the U18 mixed modality, Nicolás Volpe and Laura Jiménez won the title, while Jorge Méndez and Daniela Rodríguez were finalists and Lola Abadía and Gabriel Torres took third position. In singles, Jorge Méndez was a finalist and Laura Jiménez achieved third place.

In the U14 category, Liberto Amate and Pedro Alonso were crowned finalists in doubles, and Amate also achieved third place in singles.

Veterans, an example of perseverance

In the veteran categories, the people from Almeria also shone. In +30, Ariadna Fernández and Mamen Pérez were finalists in women’s doubles, while Fernández emerged as champion in singles. In mixed, Santi Puente and Ariadna Fernández reached the final.

In +40, Nicolás Pires and José Alfonso Jiménez were runners-up, followed by Alejandro Abadía and Octavio Santana in third place. Abadía also added a third place in singles.

The +50 category saw Ángel Fernández and Pablo Martínez as finalists, and in +60, both players won the doubles title, with Fernández also being crowned as singles champion.

International projection

Among the great achievements of Almería, the call of Jorge Méndez, Laura Jiménez and Samuel Hernández by the Royal Spanish Tennis Federation (RFET) to represent Spain in the Beach Tennis World Cup, which will be held in São Paulo from December 10 to 15, stands out. .
