San Antonio Spurs Frenchman Victor Wembanyama was named Western Conference Defensive Player of the Month, the NBA announced Tuesday.
Wembanyama (20 years old), first choice in the 2023 draft surrounded by great expectations, is the first player to receive this distinction created this season, and is rewarded for the month of November (and the few matches played in October).
Wemby’s good start to the year corresponds to a good period for the Spurs, 10th in the West with 11 wins and 9 losses after a moribund season last year.
Atlanta Australian guard Dyson Daniels received the honor for the Eastern Conference.
