Mark Beecher to leave Badminton England for new challenge

Badminton England would like to wish Head of Performance, Mark Beecher, the very best of luck with the next step in his career as he prepares to leave his role for pastures new.

“I feel the time is right for me to leave Badminton England to pursue a new challenge in my career,” explained Mark.

“The last nine years at Badminton England have seen us achieve so much, both personally and professionally as individuals and in a wider context as a close-knit but results-driven performance family. From Commonwealth Games medal successes and Olympic pride to the incredible para badminton progress made in such a short space of time, I am incredibly honoured to have played a part in transforming our aspirations and objectives into proud accomplishments.

“The athletes and the performance staff have always worked with diligence and desire to create an environment conducive to athlete improvement, achievement and success. And for that dedication, I will remain eternally grateful.

“On a personal level, nearly a decade spent at Badminton England has been all-encompassing, challenging, but so richly rewarding. Believe it or not, I will miss the early morning starts – the time spent with the players out on court, mentoring our athletes throughout their badminton journey. However, most of all I will miss the people – both my close colleagues within the performance team and all who I have worked with across the wider organisation at Badminton England.

“It is however an appropriate time for a change in direction. So, I would like to wish you all the very best for the future.”

CEO at Badminton England, Sue Storey, said “On behalf of everyone at Badminton England, our partners and key stakeholders, I would like to take this opportunity to place on record my thanks to Mark for his passion and unwavering dedication to our amazing sport.

“Mark’s enthusiasm for developing our elite programme is infectious and his absolute commitment to para badminton has been astonishing. He has expertly steered us through some challenging times, steadfast and consistent in his clear ambitions to improve our athletes, our organisation and badminton in general across the country.

Thank you, Mark. We wish you all the very best for the future!”
