NBA releases animated remake of ‘Jingle Hoops’

Among the NBA classics, we find “Jingle Hoops” released 11 years ago (already). The Great League decided to release an animated remake for this year’s Christmas Games and the result is surprising to say the least.

If you want to measure the longevity of a top level player, you can now take the two “Jingle Hoops” commercials as a basis.

In 2013, Kevin Durant, James Harden, Derrick Rose, Stephen Curry, LeBron James and Steve Nash were on display. 11 years later, we find the evergreens KD, BronBron and Steph’ on this animated remake accompanied by Jayson Tatum and Luka Doncic.

Harden fans, don’t get upset, we don’t doubt for a second that if the Clippers played on December 25, the Bearded Man would also have been there.

For this 2.0 version of its most famous ad, the NBA left aside the live action to offer an animated version. The basics remain the same, namely five players exchanging buckets to the rhythm of “Jingle Bells”, but everything else has nothing to do with it.

Wemby counters a shot and it goes into a tailspin. Anthony Edwards dribbles on a xylophone, Kevin Durant plays Tarzan on a Christmas garland or even Jalen Brunson slips between pins.

It’s closer to Toy Story than a real ad for a basketball evening, but the Christmas spirit is very present and that’s the whole point of this evening: spending December 25th, all together, basketball fans in joy and good humor.
