The inauguration of the new Uisp Empoli Valdelsa headquarters will be held on Saturday 21 December at 10.30 am, which is located in the sports area of Empoli in via Basilicata 23. The spaces, already in use since 25 November, were purchased by the association and represent his safe haven.
The one in via Basilicata 23, in fact, is the first headquarters owned by Uisp Empoli Valdelsa, which has a long history behind it and which has so far changed its “headquarters” several times. From the first decades of life within the premises in via della Repubblica (shared with the Polisportiva Coop Empoli) to the move to via Meucci, from the Casa del Popolo in Pontorme to the premises in via Majorana, from the headquarters in via Bardini from the end of the nineties up to the last house in via
“For many years within the association, there are those who say there are more than twenty, there has been talk of purchasing a headquarters – explains the president Arianna Poggi – and finally, thanks to the Council in office, we have succeeded in an operation that marks a real turning point after the difficulties linked to the pandemic. The path that led us here was months long, we looked for a location within the city’s sports area, which was inclusive, without barriers, on the ground floor and easily accessible on foot, by bicycle and by car”.
The move to these new spaces, approximately 105 m2, involved the offices in a profound rationalization of the furniture and the reuse of a large part of the structures and supplies owned by the association. Furthermore, it was an opportunity to overhaul many objects and accessories that were lying abandoned in the warehouses and which were made available free of charge to members, associations and sports clubs who requested them.
“We decided to throw away as little as possible and we chose the more tiring but undoubtedly more satisfying path of sustainable reuse and reorganization – continues Poggi – using what we had, re-adapting if possible to the new spaces and then we made a long list of furniture and things no longer useful to us but still usable by others. Many associations that often collaborate with us and some affiliated companies have reused furniture, desks, chests of drawers and everything that could still be used. Even umbrellas abandoned over the years found a new home on a rainy day. Now we have a headquarters with open space environments and multifunctional spaces, IT workstations that can be interchanged between operators, and which allow us to rationalize the spaces and bring the association up to date with the times also from a digital and technological point of view”.
But the new headquarters also heralds a further change within the Uisp Empoli Valdelsa committee: registration in the register of recognized associations and therefore with its own legal personality. “This is an objective that I strongly wanted as President from the first steps of my mandate – he says again – and which represents a fundamental piece for the stability of the association. We have already started the process and it will be completed by the end of the year. In this way we will be able to deliver to those who will be elected at the next congress (which will take place on 11 January 2025) a solid reality, with its own assets and its own legal responsibility”.
“I believe this is an important sign of a restart – conclude – compared to a mandate that began with the closures and constraints of the pandemic; dark moments, due to the elimination of income in the face of fixed expenses that remained unchanged, which made us very worried and led to deep reflections. The economic and energy crises have slowed down this recovery which has been rather difficult, but we strongly believed in it. What we went through made us stronger and more united today, it pushed us to make a change that was necessary, we just had to find the right push to do it and now in 2024 we have found it.”
The appointment, therefore, for anyone who wants to celebrate this milestone with Uisp is for Saturday 21 December at 10.30 at the headquarters in via Basilicata 23, in Empoli.
