The last two weekends were once again very eventful for our athletes with the German Championship U15/17 in Bonn, the German Championship U13/19 in Gera and the Hessen Championship O19 in Dortelweil, and the successes are also impressive.

Helena Huang (in mixed U15) and Adrien Strohhecker (in doubles U17) succeeded in the German Championship U15/17 in Bonn Third place made it onto the podium.

The quarter-final appearances of the younger players Helena Huang in the U15 singles, Zhen Huang in the U17 singles and Maya Yildiz in the U17 doubles are also impressive, as they were not far short of a podium finish. And the following players also made it to the round of 16:

Maya Yildiz in mixed U17, Zhen Huang in doubles U17, Bennet Dittrich, Carla Gräfe and Helena Huang in doubles U15.

A week later they were with them German Championships U13/19 in Gera another six TVH athletes at the start. Even if they didn’t make it into the medal ranks, they all showed that they can keep up well with the German elite.

Very narrow defeats in the quarterfinals by Darijan Umscheid in the U13 singles and in the U13 doubles with Cheng Yang mean fifth place and the best result for Hofheim at this event.

Parallel to the DM U13/19 took place in Dortelweil Hessen Championship for adults and TV Hofheim cut a good figure there too.

TV Hofheim competed in all disciplines with 12 participants, and after many exciting preliminary round games, our athletes managed to be represented in all finals.

Outstanding Karl Nagel, who clearly defeated his doubles partner Christian Dumler (Dortelweil), with whom he had previously won the doubles final, in a high-class game in the final.

Karl won another medal together with Mareike Bittner in the mixed doubles after a narrow defeat in an extremely exciting mixed final at the top level.

After strong performances, Mareike Bittner unexpectedly made it to the final in doubles with Lisa Nagel and won another silver medal after a three-set defeat.

Maya Yildiz, who had not yet won a medal in the U17 category in Bonn, played a strong individual tournament in the adult category and secured the silver medal in a convincing manner.

With 9th place in the doubles, Yannik Schaper/Robin Erbes and Sara Niemann/Malene Wagener contributed to Hofheim’s round of 16 participation in strong fields of participants.

Now it will be interesting to see who will choose Southwest German Championships qualified. These will be on the 4th/5th. January 25th in the Brühlwiesenhalle in Hofheim, and the preparations for it are already in full swing.
