Timber not surprised by Feyenoord’s samba football: ‘Not all of a sudden’ – Voetbal International

It was no surprise to Quinten Timber that Feyenoord could perform as strongly as it did against Sparta Prague on Wednesday. The Rotterdam team recovered well in the Champions League from the very poor match against RKC Waalwijk.

They barely managed to get a 2-3 win against RKC. On Wednesday it looked a lot better against Sparta Prague: 4-2. “You just want to win and know that the points are important, then it is very nice that you win,” Timber said after the match at Ziggo Sport. Timber was asked where ‘samba football suddenly came from’. He responded sharply to that. ‘Suddenly? You play good matches and lesser matches. We also played samba football away at Benfica, so it didn’t happen all at once.’

‘And now we showed it again. We wanted to win and we are happy with that. We had a few bad moments and that’s a shame, but the most important thing is the three points,” said Timber. ‘We are now on ten points, but there are still two games to come. We’re looking forward to it.’

Feyenoord will play at home against Bayern Munich on January 22 and will face Lille a week later.
