In an attempt to boost sports infrastructure in the State, a new Badminton High Performance Centre will be inaugurated at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar.
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi and his Assam counterpart Himanta Biswa Sarma will attend the event.
Ahead of the inauguration, Sarma arrived in Bhubaneswar on Thursday on a two-day visit to the State. Upon his arrival at the Bhubaneswar International Airport, he was accorded a grand welcome.
Later, he left for Puri to pay his obeisance to the sibling deities at the Srimandir. He will return to the State capital and attend the inaugural ceremony, said sources.

Worth mentioning, the Kalinga Stadium is a premier sports complex of the State which is popular for its world-class facilities.
It has a state-of-the-art hockey stadium with FIH-certified pitches and cutting-edge floodlights, making it a top destination for international tournaments, including the FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup.
The stadium also features an Olympic-standard swimming pool, athletics track, football field, tennis courts and gyms.

The high-performance centre is expected to cater to athletes’ training needs offering modern equipment and expert guidance. Recent upgrades include eco-friendly initiatives, better spectator seating and advanced digital displays.
