The directors of Asojudina also proposed the projects for 2025.
EL NUEVO DIARIO, SANTO DOMINGO. The directors of the Judo Association of the National District (Asojudina) presented recognition statuettes to Moira Morillo, José Ramón De Óleo Acosta and Minerva Lara, for their performances in different directions of judo.
The three distinctions were part of the traditional “Christmas Dinner” meeting that Asojudina held recently, where it also announced the development plans to be executed next year.
Sócrates Cuello, president of Asojudina, pointed out that the activity was carried out in an atmosphere of celebration, unity and recognition of the achievements obtained this year.
“We are recognizing three figures who have achieved success in judo, and also making known our goals for 2025,” said Cuello, who highlighted the presence of emblematic personalities of national judo.
The traditional Christmas Dinner took place in the Juan Ulises García Saleta room of the Dominican Olympic Committee (COD).
Meanwhile, the president of the Dominican Judo Federation (Fedojudo), Mr. Gilberto García, highlighted the importance of holding meetings like the one held by Asojudina, as well as the noble action of recognizing the work of actors in judo.
“These types of meetings not only celebrate the achievements obtained during the year, but also strengthen the ties of friendship in judo,” said García, who urged those present to continue working for the development and expansion of judo in the country.
Moira Morillo, who had her first participation in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, was distinguished as an example of dedication and sporting excellence.
José Ramón De Óleo Acosta, coach and leading talent trainer in the National District, also highlighted his contribution as a mentor, especially at the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD), and has been fundamental for the growth of judo in the region.
While Minerva Lara, who received promotion to the rank of third Dan, was recognized for her career, technique and contribution to the strengthening of judo.
The honorees separately thanked the gesture of the Asojudina directors for taking them into account to highlight the achievements obtained in their respective areas as judokas.
