Barça deflates at the Palau

Those from Peñarroya clearly fall against Emporio Armani Milan and extend a serious setback

MADRID, 13 (EUROPA PRESS)

Barça fell (81-94) against Emporio Armani Milan this Friday on matchday 15 of the Euroleague held in a Palau Blaugrana that saw its team’s third consecutive defeat in the top continental competition, fifth in the last six games, suffering the totally reverse streak of the Italians.

The Barça team is still mired in ups and downs and not even the Palau is working for them lately. Joan Peñarroya’s team carried the weight of the match until a fatal disconnection at the end of the third quarter, where in three minutes they conceded a 0-20 partial that decided the match in favor of the visitors.

Barça did not find a Kevin Punter who asked for help in recent weeks nor did they have a remedy for that tremendous hole with which they reached the last quarter. The losses, with various fouls that unhinged Peñarroya and company, left the locals with a 60-76 lead heading into the final quarter, with Barça having no faith in lifting it.

Zach Leday (31 points) was the best of a Milan that fueled in the second half with Nico Mannion who has undoubtedly fallen on his feet in Ettore Messina’s team, signed last November. Milan confirmed their progress, sixth victory in a row, despite the fact that Barça tied them up short in the first half.

Peñarroya’s team had a good defense (21-12), good play on the inside with Willy Hernangómez and Jan Vesley, and good direction from Tomas Satoransky. Nikola Mirotic, recognized before and after by what was his home, kept the Italians in the fight, while Barça also needed more Punter or Jabari Parker.

After the break, the script continued to be Barça’s until that catastrophic outcome in the third quarter, general traffic jam and anger with the referees from which Milan came out with half the game. The actions of Leandro Bolmaro, another former Barça player, and an imperial Leday opened an insurmountable gap in the last 10 minutes.

Although Punter finished with 21 points or Justin Anderson with 17, those from Peñarroya were far from the comeback to stop a Milan that passed them in the European table, with nine wins to the eight of a Barça that continues with its irregular seal this campaign .
