DALFSEN – To help young people enjoy badminton sport more, local associations organize accessible tournaments, so that children can get used to playing matches in a playful way. On Saturday it was the turn of BC Trefzeker from Dalfsen to host the tournament.

The children had been looking forward to it for a long time, but on Saturday at 10 am the time had come. The youth badminton tournament was about to start. The children from several associations (from Dalfsen, Ommen and Hardenberg, among others) were already busy warming up and stocking up, while the organization was making the final preparations.

After the setup and the rules of the game were explained, things got going. In 7 rounds of 10 minutes it was decided who would win the tournament. While playing, music echoed through the room, but every time the music stopped it was time for the next round. After each match, playing cards were used to determine who should be played against in the next round. Winners were paired with a loser to keep the game as exciting as possible.

After 5 rounds, while enjoying sweets, soft drinks and fruit, there was time to catch my breath and the organization had the opportunity to look at the standings. There were still several contenders and still time to play 2 rounds. But after round 7 it was really time to wrap up. The result was quickly clear. There was only one player left who had won all rounds and therefore achieved the maximum score. Rune Bink, from Dalfsen, was allowed to climb on the cupboard and receive the prize! As a consolation prize, everyone got something tasty to take home.
