Amid negotiations to sign a contract with Vasco, coach Renato Gaúcho has already imposed the first conditions to accept the club’s offer. The coach, who left Grêmio last Monday (9), has been talking to the Vasco board, but outlined the first guidelines so that he is in a position to return to São Januário after 16 years.
According to what was found by Super Rádio Tupi, Renato does not give up bringing his technical committee, especially two assistants: Alexandre Mendes and Marcelo Salles. The duo also left Grêmio last week and will be by Renato’s side wherever he goes. Alexandre is a trusted professional who has been with Renato since the beginning of his career as a coach. In turn, Marcelo joined Renato’s committee in recent years, after having already established himself in Rio football.
Marcelo Salles, in fact, already worked at Vasco himself, as an assistant, in 2014. He performed the same role at Flamengo, where he even commanded the main team on some occasions. Even so, he was also the coach of smaller teams in Rio, such as Portuguesa, Sampaio Corrêa and Nova Iguaçu, among others.
It is not yet certain whether other members of Renato’s technical committee who accompanied him at Grêmio will be with the coach again in São Januário. The situation of names on the current Vasco commission, such as physical trainer Daniel Félix, remains on hold. A meeting, scheduled for next Monday, could end with the sacrament of negotiations between Renato Gaúcho and Vasco.
