Chelsea has won in the Premier League for the 5th matchday in a row. This time sub-topper Brentford was the victim. The London club (without the injured Lavia) dominated most of the game with quite a few chances. Marc Cucurella and Nicolas Jackson ultimately decided the game. Mbeumo’s tying goal came too late. Leader Liverpool only has a 2-point lead over Chelsea, which has played one more match.

Full of confidence after the 2-5 against Tottenham, Chelsea received Brentford, which has a poor away reputation in a fairly strong season. That was also reflected today.

Chelsea were in charge in the first half. After a series of chances, the score was scored shortly before half time. Marc Cucurella put his head and curls against Madueke’s cross and nodded in.

In the 2nd half everything was under control for the Blues. Fifteen minutes before time it was a bit of a shock. Chelsea goalkeeper Sanchez had to perform a nice parade on an attempt by Nørgaard and Carvalho kicked the crossbar from close range.

Thanks to Nicolas Jackson there was a little more certainty. He kicked the ball in nice and low.

Brentford also got what it deserved: a goal. Bryan Mbeumo was sent deep and put the ball past Sanchez. It was nothing more than an honor savior, because during the added time there were mainly riots. After the whistle, this even resulted in a red card for Cucurella.

Chelsea thus consolidates its second place and benefits from the loss of points from Liverpool and Arsenal.
