The Minas Gerais flag football championship, held on December 14th and 15th, in Monte Santo de Minas, brought together some of the best teams in the state, but it was América Locomotiva that stood out and secured the title undefeated. The team finished the tournament with an impressive performance, scoring more than 200 points and conceding just 39, achieving the best attack and the best defense in the competition.
One of the highlights of this achievement was Antonio Augustto, 24 years old, born in Jundiaí. The athlete joined América Locomotiva with the mission of strengthening the flag football team, and his commitment was fundamental to the group’s success. THE Jundiaí Tribune talked to the young man about the victory:
“This was the second championship that I had the privilege of participating in with the team, and being present throughout the preparation was something remarkable. From the first training sessions to strategic meetings, I was involved at every stage”, he says.
Intense preparation and collective commitment
Winning the title was the result of rigorous preparation throughout the year. The flag football team went through a series of high-level competitions, participated in intensive training and maintained a routine of weekly meetings for analysis and improvement.
“At the final whistle, when the referee declared the end of the match and we were crowned champions, the feeling that prevailed was one of duty accomplished. This title represents much more than a victory on the field; it is the result of a lot of passion, sacrifice and collective effort.”

The third flag football championship and individual recognition
In addition to winning the flag football championship, América Locomotiva achieved a historic feat by winning the third Minas Gerais championship. The title, however, was not the only recognition for the team. The team had the player chosen as defensive highlight of the championship, in addition to seeing its coach being awarded as the best in the competition, reflecting the collective work and leadership of her coach.
“It is a pride to be part of this trajectory, even more so because América Locomotiva achieved its third Minas Gerais championship. Every person who was involved in the process, on or off the field, was essential to this achievement”, says Antonio.
With the end of the Campeonato Mineiro, América Locomotiva ends 2024 with a remarkable achievement, but also with its eyes focused on the challenges of 2025. For Antonio Augustto, the title represents a significant milestone in its sporting trajectory, and the team’s commitment to continue evolving, remain firm, with the certainty that unity and dedication will lead to new triumphs.
