The Baloncesto Superior Femenino (BSNF) confirmed today that the 2025 season will have 10 teams, with the incorporation of Juana Díaz’s Monarcas under the league’s expansion rules. The new franchise will be managed by Dr. Aurelio Collado.
“Collado is a serious and respected person in the town. He has put all his effort into this project, which fills us with enthusiasm and confidence for its development,” said Joel Medina, general manager of the Monarcas.
The decision to settle in Juana Díaz responds to the municipality’s sports facilities and its strategic location. “We appreciate the support of the municipality and its mayor, because maintaining a franchise without municipal support would be difficult. This is a significant step to strengthen women’s basketball in the south,” Medina added.
The president of the BSNF, Luis G. Miranda Ramos, highlighted that the incorporation of Juana Díaz meets two key goals: expanding the league to 10 teams and returning to the southern area. “With the arrival of San Germán last year and now Juana Díaz, we have achieved our goal of strengthening our presence in this region,” said Miranda, who assured that he will now focus on stabilizing the existing franchises.
