European Championship: European Championship group drawn for German footballers

The German national soccer players will meet Poland, Denmark and Sweden at the European Championships in Switzerland. That was the result of the draw. The European Football Union UEFA tournament will take place from July 2nd to 27th, 2025. The national team of national coach Christian Wück will not face the defending champions, at least in the group phase England.

The record European champions from Germany start in Group C. The exact game plan is yet to be published by UEFA.

Opening game between Switzerland and Norway in Basel

The opening game will be played by the host team from Switzerland in Basel against Norway. Iceland and Finland also play in Group A. In Group B, the world champions from Spain, Portugal, Belgium and Italy compete against each other. Group D consists of France, England, Wales and the Netherlands. The DFB selection, Switzerland as well as Spain and France were seeded.

As group winners, the German selection would play against the runners-up from the England/France group in Zurich, and as runners-up against the winners of this group in Basel.

The DFB women lost the last European Championship final 2022 against England 1-2 at Wembley. For Wück, as the successor to Horst Hrubesch, it is the first tournament in charge of the women’s team after he was with the male U17 team DFB was European and world champion.
